Dear Dr. Ward—

I was unpleasantly surprised this morning to find at 11.10 AM your editorial office door locked and no sign of any life whatever within. If ever [] I thought it was sure to be between 11 & 12 o’clock. I can hardly come down again—my engagements are many—my time short. But I will remain within from 1-2 PM on Wednesday hoping it may be in your power to call on me. If not you must not fail to visit Washington before Congress ends and be my guest.

Ever your friend,

Mary Clemmer
